5 SECRETS IN WRITING A SUCCESSFUL MOTIVATION LETTER FOR STUDIES


Many students and people in the world who want to further their studies are always asked to write a letter of motivation. In most universities around the world, a motivation letter is a vital document in the applicants’ application package. This document could either make you gain an admission in a university, or cause you to lose one.  Therefore, for students to be successful in this part, they must know how to identify the secrets of writing a good motivational letter. The most important secret is to identify the various parts that are required to be in the content of a motivation letter. The various parts are outlined in this section.

1-      INTRODUCTION AND CAREER GOAL: This is the first part of your motivation letter. In this section, introduce yourself and your career goals and objectives. Your career goals and objectives must be linked to the programme that you want to study. This first part which will be your first paragraph has to be in such a way that it will give the examiner the urge to read more and go to the next paragraph.

2-      PREVIOUS STUDIES:  In this part of your motivation letter, you will be required to show the relationship between your previous studies and the programme you internet to study. Bring out some of those courses or subjects which you studied that are similar to the programme you intent to study. Define each course or subject that is related to the study program and outline the related features.


3-      PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE: Talking about previous work experiences could also include intern ships and voluntary services. In this part of your motivation letter, outline each area where you have worked before and establish a link with your desired study programme. The connection which you have to establish should be visible to the reader so that he or she could really see the liaison between your past or present work and the program you intent to study.

4-      HOW THE PROGRAMME MEETS YOUR CAREER GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: This is another very important part in you motivation letter or letter of intent.  In this section you will have to explain how the programme you want to study will help you realise your dreams. You will have to talk about the importance of the programme you desire to study and the role it will play in your career goals and objectives.


5-      FUTURES PLANS: In your letter of intent you will be required to outline your future plans. You will be required to explain where you see yourself in 10 years to come. For example in ten year time do you see yourself as the director of a company, a bank manager or a pilot? You should explain this in detail.  

It should be noted that a letter of motivation for studies should be able to link your previous activities to the programme you intent to study. If this liaison could be established at every level, and the importance of the program well outlined, you will have a successful letter of motivation. This will facilitate your admission into any university.
