Applications are invited for the Cultural Vistas Summer Internship Program in Germany. Students, international and U.S., enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities and Canadian citizens enrolled in U.S. or Canadian colleges and universities are eligible for the program. Interning abroad gives you the unique opportunity to explore a new culture, improve your language skills, and gain intercultural competence all while boosting your resume and gathering professional experience. Most of the internships are paid. Compensation varies by industry and will either be approximately EUR 200–600 per month, or approximately EUR 100–200 per month plus free housing. All eligible participants will receive a scholarship application via email. Priority will be given to participants with financial need and to those with unpaid internships. Internship application deadline is December 15, 2014.

-Two years of post-secondary instruction in German or the equivalent (extra language training is available, if needed)

-Practical experience in target internship field (summer employment, prior internship, lab position, etc.) does not need to be extensive, but is preferred. The more experience you have, the more desirable you are to a potential host company.

Is this paid internship? Yes, some of the internships are paid, although each situation is unique and it is ultimately the host company that will make this decision. Much like in the United States, internships in technical fields are generally paid, while internships for those with a liberal arts background tend to be unpaid. A limited number of scholarships are available through the Cultural Vistas Scholarship Fund, for qualified participants.

Internship Description: The Cultural Vistas Summer Internship Program in Germany provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable international work skills, improve German language abilities, and experience German life and culture firsthand. Internship placements are available in a variety of fields, including, but not limited to, business, engineering, finance, tourism, IT, media/communications, international relations, the nonprofit sector, German studies, and economics. Internship duration is typically two to three months, with most students completing a three month internship. Many internships are paid and scholarships are available to qualified participants who receive unpaid internships. Participants will receive a scholarship application following acceptance to the program. A limited number of language course stipends are also available for those who qualify.

Internship Duration: The Internship Program in Germany runs year-round and the duration ranges between three and twelve months, depending on the participant’s wishes, schedule, and language skills. It is possible to extend the internship in coordination with the host company. This program offers an internship facility to fresh graduates for learning and understanding the basics of professional work environment. For this purpose, interns are placed in the professional environment (organizations across the country) under the supervision of top notch professionals. This eight weeks program provides the experience and exposure of professional world.

Who Can Apply?

This is an open opportunity for young and fresh university and college students studying in the areas of social sciences, computer, finance and business management with an age limit of 28 years. Students must possess excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy and above all interest and willingness to learn and go through rigorous eight weeks of work.

Selection and Placement Process:

• Selection and placement will be a competitive process and all applications will be reviewed by SIP Committee;
• Long-listed applicants will be called for written test;
• Short-listed applicant will be called for interview;
• Result will be communicated through email to successful applicants;
• The placement of successful applicants with the respective organizations will be done based on the basis of requirements of member organizations, applicants preferences and other various other important factors. Respective organizations rules will apply.

• Sessions on “how to conduct a research”.

Terms and Conditions for SIP:

1. SIP is a training program and not an employment opportunity.
2. SIP doesn’t charge any tuition fee from students.
3. SIP doesn’t offers any stipend or scholarship to the students.
4. All students have to bear their boarding, lodging and travelling cost.
5. A limited number of Alumni will be considered for SIP 2014.
6. Internship will be only in the organizations approved by HRDN and change of organization without permission of HRDN is not allowed.
7. Rules of the host organization will apply to the intern.
8. Intern will adhere to the timings that will apply during the SIP.
9. Intern will be bound to maintain the organization’s discipline.
10. Intern will be bound to maintain confidentiality of information.
11. Interns are not allowed to use computer equipment view, create and distribute material that is discriminating, harassing, obscene, defamatory, threatening or of an illegal nature to other employees or to anyone outside the company. Any such use is considered serious misconduct and could result in a letter to the referencing authority or individuals, of the intern.
12. Certificate of SIP will be given to those interns who will complete their internship successfully and show satisfactory performance during their internship.
13. The intern are required to submit and present the internship report at the end of the SIP period.

PAKISTAN BAIT-UL-MALL STIPENDS

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall have intimated that education stipends are provided to poorest of the poor students having proven brilliant academic record and studying in government institutions. The stipends to the deserving students are being paid as per following details:

Post Matric studies upto University excluding M.Phil & PhD	Equivalent to prescribed fee of Govt. institution (maximum to Rs. 30,000/-) per annum including boarding charges @ Rs. 1000/- per month or actual (whichever is less) where applicable	Rs. 1000/-

The Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall (PBM) further intimated that :-

1. The education stipend and boarding charges for the students of primary and high school level are being paid for uniform, books, stationary and tuition fee, in favor of student’s parents while education stipend & boarding charges for post-Matric students are paid to the concerned institution.
2. All payments are being made through crossed cheque only in favor of the Head of the institution.
3. Students of M.Phil & PhD are not eligible for Individual Financial Assistance (IFA) education stipend
4. The students seeking education stipend out of PBM funds are required to submit application along with academic testimonials and bonafide certificates to the nearest Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Provincial / Regional Office or Head office H-8/4, Islamabad. These cases are got investigated to ascertain their genuineness as per eligibility criteria. 
5. The deserving students are paid education stipend once a year on inception of new academic session in case of annual and semester system as well.
6. Education stipend can be provided to two members of same family at a time (within the maximum limit of Rs. 30,000/-).
7. Budget under relevant head is not sufficient to accommodate each and every case; therefore, the cases are being processed by PBM on first come first serve basis.

SYEDA MUBARIK BEGUM SCHOLARSHIPS(2013-2014)FOR GIRLS: REGULAR STUDENTS (NOT “SELF – SUPPORTING“ CATEGORY)

In pursuance of its objects, Babar Ali Foundation awards Syeda Mubarik Begum Scholarships for the promotion of education, general uplift and welfare of needy women.

These scholarships are granted to girls, admitted as regular students (“not self-supporting” category), to supplement the resources available to them for their studies in public sector colleges and universities in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Preference is given to studies in Commerce / Engineering / Agriculture / Medicine degrees and postgraduate studies in Science, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Languages, Medicine and Surgery. Students of management science (business or public administration), accounting, teacher training and education are also considered for the award of scholarships.

The scholarships are granted mainly on the basis of consistently excellently academic record as indicated by marks (not less than 60% in annual examination or 80% in semester studies) obtained in the previous examinations (taken as whole & not in parts) coupled with the established need of the applicant for financial assistance. Furthermore, an assessment of her potential for contribution to nation-building activities, particularly for the welfare and uplift of women, and for developing as a useful member of the society in general carries a considerable weight.

The scholarship is usually released in suitable installments and the continuation of disbursements depends on receipt of satisfactory reports from the head of the scholarship holder’s institution on her academic progress, punctuality, and conduct. The foundation reserves the right to withdraw its sanction of the scholarship or to amend its terms, amount and/or duration at any time without assigning any reason.

The application should be in the applicant’s own handwriting, must be complete in all respects and be accompanied by attested copies of all requisite documents, certificated etc. Only girl students pursuing their education as regular students (not “self-supporting” category) in academic session 2013-14 may apply.
